So what makes the Hilux unique?

According to Matt Campbell in CarAdvice, “The 2016 Toyota Hilux could be the most important vehicle the Japanese brand has launched this decade. The Toyota Hilux has long had a reputation for being one of the toughest brutes on the market, and with this, the eighth-generation model, the brand says it has made the unbreakable Hilux even more unbreakable.Toyota has spent six years and covered many kilometersin developing the all-new Hilux, and taken a step up.”

The Assistant Chief Engineer of Toyota Hilux points out the qualities that set the Hilux apart,”Until now, a vehicle’s value was determined by how ‘tough’ it was. However, in developing Hilux, we wanted to fundamentally rethink what ‘tough’ means. To realize the development concept, we performed many field tests on various roads, conditions, environments of all over the world. The all new Hilux is all about “Redefining Toughness”.”

The eighth generation 2016 Hilux is therefore not only a tough vehicle, but an advanced pick-up with stylish cues hitherto found only on SUVs. The front of the new Hilux gives a sense that the vehicle is wider than it is.

This is achieved by the horizontal bars that make up the grille and sleek headlamps that wrap around the front of the fenders. The new Hilux sports a thick, chunky front steel bumper sculpted like a SUV vehicle, front fog lamps, new design alloy wheels and wheel caps, new design rear lamp with chrome garnish apart from new side stripes, which adorn the vehicle.

The vehicle’s interior continues the concept of “Tough and Emotional”, and reflects the same attention to detail as the exterior with SUV vehicle styling, accents and ornamentations. The key all new features that keep you comfortable are the auto A/C, steering wheel with audio switches and advanced controls, newly introduced multi-information display (MID), 7″ display audio with DVD and many more.

Equal importance has been provided to the technical superiority and safety features of the new Hilux. The noteworthy features are 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options, newly developed 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with 148 HP. The all-new Hilux comes equipped with a number of active and passive safety features like Anti-lock Brake System(ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist, SRS airbags for the driver and front passenger and knee airbags for the driver.
