Available in 1.5 L and 1.3 L engine choices, theYaris comes with a Smart Entry &Push Button Start System that locks/unlocks doors or the trunk. Toyota Yaris also has a lightweight and compact 4-speed automatic gearbox delivering excellent response and a smooth gear shift. There also is a 5-speed manual gearbox option where the gear ratios have been set to extract optimal engine performance. A EPS (Electric Power Steering) control has also been adopted which provides feedback to the steering wheel even in a near-neutral position.
The Yaris’ front design creates its bold stance. Following the line of the cabin, the strong, taut hood emphasizes the flare of the fenders and wheel arches. The large and impressive appearance of the front face accentuates the lower grille for a strong visual impact.
Each projector-type headlamp gives the impression of a single piece of metal piercing through from the side to the front. This highlights the wide stance, creating a mechanical yet classy form. Following the line of the grille, the headlamps wrap far back around to the sides and are adorned by the chrome-accented bars of the grille, making the vehicle appear wide.
A uniquely shaped, high rigidity roof (catamaran roof) has been adopted from an aerodynamic perspective. The shape around the rear of the roof helps to control the vortexes generated at the rear of the vehicle so that the air smoothly converges with the air flowing from the under floor area, reducing air resistance.
The Yaris has a comfortable and roomy interior. The instrument panel, set along a horizontal axis, runs the entire width of the cabin, creating a spacious and distinctive presence. Lavish ornamentation has been used for various interior features and switches. Precision technology has been used to create molded stitching that looks like hand-stitching. Double stitching has been adopted on both the front and rear seats for an attractive appearance. The designs of the frequently-touched centre cluster and steering wheel incorporate ergonomic features for ease of use.
The Toyota Yaris offers one of the widest loading spaces in its class and more space between the wheelhouses, too. The larger trunk opening width and the , lower loading height further supports easy loading and unloading of even heavier, bulky items.
The Yaris has a strut-type suspension at the front, which has been designed for long-term reliability and a superior steering feel and ride comfort. The rear suspension has atorsion beam type suspension which ensures superior rear grip and vehicle stability.
Springs and shock absorbers that optimally enhance the rigidity of the body have been adopted.
To ensure a quiet and smooth ride, Toyota has used variety of sound absorbing and insulating materials. Moreover, in the case of the front windshield, an acoustic glass with a three-layered construction has been used, minimizing wind noise and road noise.
The audio system of theYaris now features a USB jack which is compatible with portable media players such as an iPod. The display size has also been increased from one line to three lines, enabling the track name, artist name, and CD album name to be displayed simultaneously. The AUX and USB jacks are very easy to use since they are positioned at the bottom of the audio panel.
All Yaris occupants enjoy the comfort of the best-in-class air conditioning system which ensures passenger comfort even in the hottest weather. A design featuring three horizontally aligned dials has been adopted on the air conditioning control panel, combining excellent operability and appearance.
From the safety perspective, the Yaris offers an impressive array of safety features such as driver and front-passenger Airbags (SRS) and Whiplash Injury Lessening (WIL) for the front seats.
